We audit a lot of existing sites before quoting a rebuild. The same causes come up again and again.
1. Uncompressed photographs
A 4 MB camera photo used as a banner. Resize to the size it actually displays at, convert to WebP, and you often cut ninety percent.
2. Too many plugins
A typical slow WordPress site has thirty-plus plugins, each loading its own scripts on every page.
3. Sliders
The rotating banner nobody reads costs seconds of load time. Statistically, almost no one clicks past the first slide.
4. Cheap oversold hosting
₹99-a-month hosting means a thousand sites on one server. Server response time alone can be two seconds before anything renders.
5. Six different fonts
Each weight is a separate download. Two families, three weights, is plenty.
6. No caching
Every visitor triggering a fresh database query for content that changes monthly.
7. Chat widgets and pixels
Third-party scripts load their own scripts. Audit what you are actually using.
8. No lazy loading
Twenty images below the fold downloading before the visitor has scrolled.
9. Render-blocking CSS and JS
Stylesheets and scripts loaded in the head, blocking the page from painting.
Fix the first four and most sites go from eight seconds to under two. It is rarely a rewrite — it is housekeeping.
